A sunny Tuesday evening welcomed Tremper Soccer to Dixon Park, where our 2009’s hosted the American High School team for an end of season / pre-upcoming-season friendly. Having travelled from Kenosha, Wisconsin, the team from America started brightly and spectators were provided with a very entertaining watch. Midway through the first half, after creating a number of chances, the Comrades team took the lead through a well executed shot from the left right hand side of the box from Beau, who’s shot curled over the head of the keeper and into the far corner of the net. The first half continued in the same fashion, with the Comrades unlucky not to have extended their lead a couple of times, and the Tremper keeper pulling off a number of good saves.
As the match progressed both sides suffered a few injuries, and with the travelling team already being a couple of players down, a few of the Comrades pulled on the grey shirts and played for them. The second half was played at a slightly slower pace, and Cameron scored early in the second half to give us a 2-0 lead, before adding a third a few minutes later. Tremper had a couple more chances, most notably with our striker Bailie hitting the bar for them and putting the rebound just past the post. The game finished 3-0, and proved to be a good workout on a beautiful evening, ahead of our National League campaign next season.
Many thanks too to the supporters who showed up to watch the match, it was encouraging for the boys on both sides to see a good turnout.
